Celebrate WA Day at Gwoonwardu Mia – A Festival of Culture, Community & Connection
Join us this WA Day as Carnarvon comes alive with a vibrant celebration of culture, community, and connection at the iconic Gwoonwardu Mia Cultural Centre. This free, family-friendly event will bring together the Gascoyne community to honour the stories, people, and traditions that make Western Australia unique.
Proudly presented by Gwoonwardu Mia, this year’s WA Day Festival will feature a dynamic mix of live performances, cultural experiences, and engaging activities for all ages.

Enjoy powerful performances from local legends, including Raymond Edney, the Pundarra Dancers, and the Coral Spawn Dancers – celebrating Country through music, movement, and storytelling.
Cultural Experiences:
Explore rich cultural displays that showcase the heritage of the region, participate in hands-on family-friendly activities, and experience the deep connections to land and culture that define the Gascoyne.
Bush Tucker & Local Flavours:
Taste the flavours of Country with bush tucker tastings, food trucks serving local favourites, and refreshing bush tea mocktails that celebrate native ingredients.

This relaxed celebration under the open sky is the perfect opportunity to connect with community, enjoy live entertainment, and immerse yourself in the spirit of WA Day.

Enjoy a lively mix of children’s shows, cultural performances, street theatre and live music, all crafted to be fun, welcoming and family friendly. From energetic acts to surprising pop-up moments, this stage is your go-to spot for non-stop entertainment celebrating the spirit and diversity of WA.
Dig Into the Fun! Bring the family and uncover a world of colour, creativity, and mining adventure with Hancock Iron Ore. Kids can get kitted out with high-vis braids, face paint, and temporary tattoos, relax with story time and activity books, and snap a selfie with Rocky at the photo wall. Then it’s time to dig in - use the mini digger to ‘mine’ for Rocky plushies and explore the Mine Tales app for more mining fun!
We’re proud to have RTRFM curating this year’s artists on the Main Stage. Long recognised as champions of Western Australian music, RTRFM has brought together an outstanding line-up that celebrates the depth and diversity of West Australian talent.
From emerging artists to well-loved favourites, the Main Stage will showcase the sounds that make WA’s music scene so distinctive.
Joining us on stage is Pam Boland, who will MC the day’s performances and keep the energy flowing.

This family-friendly show delivers non-stop excitement with up to three 15-minute performances throughout the day. Watch Australia’s top riders pull off incredible tricks, meet the athletes for free poster signings and photos, and score some awesome giveaways!
With a professional MC, great music, and plenty of crowd interaction, Hardwired BMX guarantees edge-of-your-seat entertainment for all ages.
