The grounds of Gwoonwardu Mia will come alive with a dynamic program of live performances, interactive activities and experiences that reflect the diverse stories and people that shape our State.
Get ready for live cultural performances, family-friendly activities, face painting, reptile encounters, delicious local food and a spectacular community-led fire sculpture display bringing the stories of the Gascoyne to life.

Celebrate community, culture and everything we love about WA at Fremantle’s FREE WA Day Festival – bringing the iconic Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour and Bathers Beach to life with live entertainment, cultural performances, family fun and plenty of surprises.
From mermaids and carnival performers to live music, multicultural performances and a spectacular sunset finale, there’ll be something happening around every corner.
🔥 Begin the celebration with a traditional Smoking Ceremony led by Neville Collard JP Nyungar Birdiyia, followed later by a special WA Day Festival Corroboree at Bathers Beach.
🧜‍♀️ Dive into an underwater world with the Spectacular Mermaid Aquarium Show, mermaid meet and greets and Unicorns by the Sea, alongside plenty of magical characters roaming the festival.
🎶 Enjoy a huge mix of live music and entertainment, from 80s anthems and a tribute to Bon Scott to Cuban music, samba, Italian Tarantella, Filipino street dance, dragon dancing and the thunderous sounds of Taiko drumming.
🎠Soak up the colour of Carnival Fiesta, Brazilian rhythms, Venetian Masquerade characters, Vintage Beach Belles and roving performers bringing the precinct to life.
🍝 Celebrate Fremantle’s rich Italian heritage with Cooking with the Nonnas, plus the Italians in Fremantle historic walking trail at the WA Shipwrecks Museum.
đź§± Keep the kids entertained with Bricks, Builds & Big Fun, creative activities, mini kite making, WA-themed colouring, mascot appearances and plenty more family fun.
🏎️ Check out impressive displays including the Barbagallo RAM Showcase and Corvettes of WA Car Club Showcase.

Explore interactive exhibits, hands-on activations and big ideas from Hancock Iron Ore, The Perth Mint, Synergy, Alcoa and the WA Museum, celebrating the ingenuity, technology and innovation shaping our State’s future.

The carnival rides are back - and they’re completely FREE!
With rides popping up across the park, families can enjoy all the carnival fun without spending a cent. From family favourites to plenty of thrills, there’ll be something for everyone.

Get ready to play! The Sporting Precinct returns with familiar favourites including the Western Force, Perth Glory and West Coast Eagles, alongside exciting new additions from across Western Australia’s sporting scene.
Hardwired BMX is back with more high-energy shows, plus put your skills to the test with WAIS, take on inflatable dodgeball, try your hand at axe throwing, get moving with Gymnastics WA and plenty more.
And that’s just the teaser — more sporting action is still to be revealed!
The inaugural WA Day Community Chorus, presented by Joondalup Symphony Orchestra Chorus, will bring singers from across the community together for a major live performance at WA Day Festival 2026.
Over three months, you’ll learn the music, meet new people and build towards performing live at WA Day Festival alongside professional musicians.
No auditions. No professional experience required.
Just a love of singing and a willingness to have a go.
