Experience the magic of Dreamtime this WA Day Festival at Burswood Park.
Wadjuk Dreaming is a captivating celebration of the Wadjuk Noongar people — their stories, language, and deep connection to Country. Presented in collaboration with respected Elders Theresa Walley, Rose Walley, and artist Biara Martin, this immersive experience invites families and children to step into the heart of Aboriginal storytelling.
Inside a stunning dome installation, visitors will journey through four beautifully animated Dreamtime stories, adapted from Theresa Walley’s cherished picture books and brought to life through Biara Martin’s vibrant artwork and Noongar narration. Each story carries a timeless teaching — kindness, teamwork, perseverance, and family — creating a space to listen, learn, and reflect.
The sensory experience combines light, sound, and movement, with projections of native animals and the sounds of Country — magpies calling, wind through grass, and distant thunder — transporting audiences into the Dreamtime.
Beyond the films, Wadjuk Dreaming will also feature a smoking ceremony each day and live performances by Yirra Yaakin Theatre Company, showcasing powerful storytelling and language from one of Australia’s leading Aboriginal theatre groups. Learn more about Yirra Yaakin →
Wadjuk Dreaming brings together generations of Noongar voices to share stories that have travelled across time, keeping culture strong and celebrating the spirit of Western Australia.
