Prior to 2012, the Western Australian of the Year Awards were known as the WA Citizen of the Year Awards. The Western Australian of the Year Awards Hall of Fame honours these inspirational Alumni who have made a significant contribution to our community across a number of areas.

On 18 March 2020, Celebrate WA announced that the 2020 WA Day celebrations, including the Western Australian of the Year Awards, were cancelled due to the COVID-19 crisis. Entries for the 2020 Awards will be carried forward to 2021 to ensure that we continue to recognise the talented Western Australians who have been put forward for this honour.
