Indie rock four-piece smol fish are a band of best friends from Boorloo (Perth), Australia. With earnest lyricism and playful instrumentation, they explore the lovely and lonesome parts of being a 20-something navigating the world today.

Though they describe themselves as “not big,” smol fish have already hit some major milestones. They’ve been a triple j Unearthed feature artist, and their track Sad Girl Summer was one of the most played songs on RTRFM in 2021. In 2022 they joined Noah Dillon on a national tour, playing 12 cities across Australia.

Known for their high-energy live shows, smol fish have built a loyal following and carved out their place in the local scene.

September 2023 saw the release of their second EP Crocodile Tears, which pushed their Spotify listenership past 21,000 monthly streams. Their single Sweet Taste was added to playlists including All New Rock and Fresh Finds Indie, attracting new audiences in the US, UK and Europe. After a strong showing at Bigsound, the band began drawing attention from international industry.

They wrapped up 2023 on the triple j stage at WAMFest before supporting Alex G in Perth. In early 2024 they toured the UK and Europe for the first time as headliners, then hit the road around Australia with Sly Withers while their single If Only was in rotation on triple j.

The second half of 2024 brought another UK tour and the release of Get Over It. In 2025 smol fish stepped onto the main stage at Laneway Festival, played BLOOM, and supported Mannequin Pussy, Spacey Jane and Soccer Mommy. They are now back in the studio working on new music.

Be sure to superglue your socks to your feet, because smol fish are ready to blow them off.
