Celebrate community, culture and creativity at Albany’s FREE WA Day Festival — a vibrant family-friendly event set against the stunning waterfront backdrop of the Museum of the Great Southern.

As Albany marks its Bicentenary year, this special WA Day celebration brings together stories, music, performances, hands-on activities and cultural experiences that honour the people, traditions and communities that make Albany unique.

What’s On

🎶 Live music and choir performances from talented local performers including BilyaBeats, Bird on a Wire Choir, The Valdoonicans and combined performances from Albany Senior High School and North Albany Senior High School.

🌏 Living Histories cultural experiences with Michelle Essex, sharing stories and traditions from Filipino, Italian and Menang communities through performances and interactive sessions.

🖤 Aboriginal cultural demonstrations with respected Menang Noongar man Larry Blight of Kurrah Mia, showcasing traditional Aboriginal toolmaking and cultural knowledge.

🎪 Family favourites including Jamie the Clown, face painting, bouncy castles, outdoor games, museum craft activities and messy play for little ones.

🩴 The much-loved Thong Throwing Competition returns with sessions for both kids and adults.

🏛️ Explore the immersive “Albany Then and Now” exhibition celebrating 200 years of Albany’s history through interactive displays and storytelling.

🐪 Visit the WA Museum’s Museum in a Container exhibition exploring the stories of cameleers and camels in WA — and meet Naqa the life-size camel.

⛵ Enjoy FREE entry to the historic Brig Amity for the day.

🍔 Grab a bite to eat from food vendors and community sausage sizzles while connecting with local community groups, environmental initiatives and emergency services.

🎨 Take part in hands-on cultural activities including Japanese origami workshops and interactive displays throughout the precinct.
