Getting to and from the WA Day Festival

We strongly encourage visitors to catch public transport, ride share, walk or ride, to the WA Day Festival. With road closures and limited parking in place, these are the easiest, fastest, and most sustainable ways to enjoy the weekend.

Plan to arrive before 5:00pm on Saturday or Sunday to avoid peak congestion when the cricket crowds leave Optus Stadium. We recommend avoiding travel to the WA Day Festival between 5:00pm and 6:30pm for the smoothest experience.

Catch the Train – Arrive before 5!

The nearest train station to the WA Day Festival is Perth Stadium Station, just a 10-minute walk from the event site. Visit transperth.wa.gov.au to plan your journey.

  • To Perth: Frequent services every 10–15 minutes until 11.00 pm.
  • To Armadale/Thornlie: Frequent services every 10–15 minutes until 11.00 pm.
  • Perth Stadium Station has six platforms with two concourses. Yanchep and Fremantle line passengers will use the Western Concourse, and Armadale, Thornlie-Cockburn, Mandurah lines and Perth-bound trains will depart from the Eastern Concourse.

Getting There:

Buses
Regular timetabled bus services operate across the Transperth network. Please note that services after 7.00 pm are limited. Please check Getting Home information at transperth.wa.gov.au. There are no special event buses running directly to or from the Festival.
Trains
The nearest train station to the WA Day Festival is Perth Stadium Station, just a 10-minute walk from the event site. Visit transperth.wa.gov.au to plan your journey.
Rideshare
During road closures, the best pick-up and drop-off points are Crown Perth (Bolton Avenue entrance), the taxi rank near Optus Stadium Train Station or Gloucester Park, via Matagarup Bridge.
Cycle or Walk
Make the most of the dedicated cycle paths around Burswood and park your bike safely at The Pedal & Park Zone, located near the main festival entrances. Friendly staff will be on hand to assist, and cyclists can grab a free water bottle on arrival. If you live nearby or are coming from the City, it’s a short and scenic walk via Matagarup Bridge or along the foreshore pathways into Burswood Park. Enjoy the views and arrive right in the heart of the festival!
Accessibility
Parking is available at Crown Perth P6 Car Park, with additional ACROD bays allocated for WA Day visitors. Please enter via Bolton Avenue, where an ACROD drop-off zone is also located for convenient access to the festival site. We encourage general attendees not to drive, as parking is limited and surrounding streets will have restrictions in place.
Road Closures
To ensure public safety and a full Stadium bus service for the Ashes, Roger Mackay Drive and Camfield Drive will be closed throughout the festival. Please plan your trip accordingly and follow traffic management signage.

What is the WA Day Festival?

The WA Day Festival is a free, family-friendly celebration of everything that makes Western Australia great — our people, places, and shared achievements.

Traditionally held on the first Monday in June alongside the public holiday, the WA Day Festival was moved to November, with the 2025 Festival taking place on 22–23 November at Burswood Park. From 2028, the public holiday will shift permanently to the second Monday in November.

The Festival brings together all Western Australians — from every background and community — to celebrate the spirit and pride of our state.

Is the WA Day Festival a free event?

Yes, the WA Day Festival is a free to attend event. All rides, activations, the live entertainment, music concert and the drone and fireworks are free. The items you will need to pay for is the sideshow alley, food and drinks.

Where is the Festival being held?

The Festival is being held at Burswood Park - between Optus Stadium and Crown Perth.

Is this event suitable to all ages?

Yes! The event is family-friendly and suitable for all ages, with plenty of activities for children, young people, and adults to enjoy. Please note that there will be a licensed bar area, which is restricted to patrons aged 18 and over.

How do I get there?

Can I park close to the Festival?

There is no WA Day Festival Parking onsite. The closest car park is Crown Perth, but plan accordingly as there is limited parking and Camfield Drive and Roger MacKay Drive will be closed.

Can I bring my dog?

It is strongly advised that unless your dog is a service or guide dog, that you should leave your pooch at home. The sites, sounds and number of people can be quite overwhelming for our furry friends.

What should I bring?

Bring along anything you need to be comfortable and enjoy the day - sunscreen, hats, picnic rugs, and reusable water bottles are all great ideas. Please note that alcohol cannot be brought into the event, and picnic supplies are not permitted inside the licensed bar areas.

Can I smoke at the Festival?

No - this is a smoke free event!

Do you have disabled parking?

Can drones fly in wet weather?

No. Drones cannot be flown in wet or rainy conditions, as moisture can damage the equipment and create safety risks.

Can I leave my things somewhere?

No cloakrooms are available. Please carry and look after all your belongings, as the WA Day Festival cannot accept responsibility for lost or stolen items.

I've lost something where do I go?

All lost property should be taken to Info Booth in the main even site.

Where will I find the giveaway items?

You will find the festival giveaways at each Information Booth. Please refer to the map for exact locations.

Is the mascot race on again?

Yes! The Mascot Race is back and better than ever. Don't miss it - 12pm on Saturday 22nd of November.

What happens in the event of bad weather?

Unless the weather is considered dangerous to patrons, the festival events will go ahead whatever the forecast. There may be some activities that may not run due to this – rides, activities etc. We will provide the most up to date information for patrons on our Website, Facebook and Instagram pages.

What should I do in an emergency or if I find a lost child?

If the situation is life-threatening, please call 000 immediately.

For non-life-threatening medical issues, visit one of the Info Booths or St John Ambulance stations located throughout the festival site - check the Festival Map for exact locations.

If you’ve found a lost child, please take them to the nearest Constable Care location.
