Burswood Park Board
Burswood Park Board hosted the WA Day Festival and SOTA for the first time in 2019, after proudly supporting Celebrate WA and its annual awards for more than 25 years. Burswood Park Board is responsible for managing Burswood Park, a 56-hectare sprawling public parkland located on the banks of the Swan River, less than five kilometres from the Perth CBD and within walking distance of some of Perth’s premier tourist destinations – including Optus Stadium and the iconic Matagarup Bridge. With its spectacular views, barbecues and picnic areas, children’s playground, lakes, gardens and walking trails, Burswood Park is a popular venue for locals and tourists alike.
Over the coming years, Burswood Park will be transformed from a suburban parkland into an exciting, contemporary destination for generations to come, via a comprehensive master planning process.
The Park is also home to the Swan Fountain – the centrepiece of the Citizen of the Year Lake. The stunning sculpture, which showcases five Western Australian black swans rising majestically from their nest, captures the spirit and life of Western Australia’s treasured Swan River. The names of recipients of the WA Citizen of the Year are displayed on plaques affixed to the cobbled limestone edge of the adjoining dais.
