Ian Trust has worked tirelessly to promote Aboriginal economic and social development through roles in local, regional, state and national organisations. His parents, both members of the Stolen Generation, always emphasised the importance of education and work which had an influence over Ian’s efforts at the Wunan Foundation, Aarnja Limited, Indigenous Business Australia and the Indigenous Land Corporation. He believed that the success of Aboriginal people came from accessing education and quality housing, getting in to work and taking responsibility for their future. In 2001 Ian was awarded the Centenary Medal for services to Australian society.

Professor Robinson co-established the award-winning Fathering Project in response to statistics that showed the most powerful but missing factor in reducing youth substance abuse and crime was a strong father figure. He produced three best-selling books and presented to over 13,000 father figures and mothers via schools, workplaces and community books. His program has benefitted over 30,000 father figures and 50,000 children. Professor Robinson also cared for thousands of asbestos victims and their families through Australian research cooperative NCARD (National Centre for Asbestos Related Diseases). Professor Robinson was honoured with an Order of Australia and was publicly named an icon of medical research in Australia.

As one of the world’s leading photographers and creator of Nomad Two Worlds, a collaborative art project with Indigenous communities, Russell James’ name has been synonymous with provocative, unique perspectives of many of the most prominent women of our time in the worlds of entertainment, fashion and beauty. His images have been exhibited at the world’s leading photographic art gallery CAMERA WORK, in Berlin, for the likes of Hermes in association with Guggenheim, and in leading global fashion and photography journals such as Vogue, W, American Photo and a host of art books.

In 2000 Jennifer Allen was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Youth Focus Inc. Prior to that she held sales and marketing positions across both public and private sectors including American Express, University of Western Australia and Department of Education in North Territory. Jenny chaired a number of charities working with children and youth and is a board member of Suicide Prevention Australian and the Ministerial Council of Suicide Prevention. She was awarded the 2008 Ernst & Young ‘WA Social Entrepreneur of the Year’ as well as the 2009 Business Person of the Year by the Local Chambers BarterCard Commerce & Industry Awards for her dedication to preventing youth suicide.

Lauren Mitchell was the first woman to win gold medals at World Cup and world championship level for Australia in gymnastics. Her name quickly became synonymous with Australian gymnastics and her performances on the world stage made her an icon in a sport that until recently, had seldom achieved mainstream attention. As a senior member of the Australian women’s artistic team Lauren was also a mentor to younger members of the team. Now retired, Lauren remains active within her community through the WAIS Community Development Program and as a role model to junior athletes at schools and local clubs.

As an accomplished campaigner, commentator and speaker, Michael Sheldrick has been an advocate on issues of extreme poverty since leaving high school. He worked in the high impact campaign Make Poverty History and The Oaktree Foundation, helping to secure the largest ever increase in Australian aid. Michael graduated from UWA with first class honours in political science and international relations and received a distinction in law. As Global Director of Policy and Advocacy at the Global Poverty Project, Michael has coordinated several international advocacy programs and serves as the organisation’s main representative to the United Nations.
