MESSAGE FROM THE HON JOHN CASTRILLI MLA
MINISTER FOR CITIZENSHIP AND MULTICULTURAL INTERESTS
The State Government is proud to support Celebrate WA Inc. in the delivery of programs that promote multiculturalism, civic development, participation and contribution to public life. These important social and cultural dimensions relate to all Western Australians and make the State a better place to live.
Celebrate WA’s annual Oz Concert held on the eve of Australia Day, demonstrates our unity through promoting and presenting Western Australia’s diverse cultural, linguistic and religious communities. The ANZAC Day Community Gunfire Breakfasts bring the community together to acknowledge the exceptional contribution of our Western Australian Diggers. The prestigious WA Citizen of the Year Awards, presented on the Foundation Day long weekend, recognise the contribution made by business and community members in their field of expertise and also the wider community.
WA Week, held in October each year, also celebrates Proclamation Day, the granting of self-government to Western Australia. Activities during WA Week provide opportunities for people from across the State to draw strength from our inclusive multicultural society and shared citizenship.
The State Government is committed to presenting a program of citizenship that provides all Western Australians with opportunities to engage in activities that promote our great State.
I encourage all Western Australians to join in the initiatives presented by Celebrate WA.
